Today's one of those wonderful days! Thankfully, it seems like this autumn's hot streak is finally over---today it was gloomy and a bit chilly. I started my day off with some reading---Miss Mackenzie by Anthony Trollope---and it fit with the day's atmosphere, I think. I'm just waiting for a morning where I wake up and it's storming so hard I stay in bed and read until I have to get up to go to class!

I had my scholarship job today. I was one minute late, so the person before me had closed the desk up already. We're supposed to wait five minutes or so for the next person to show after our shift ends, but I can understand. Anyway, the desk I work at has a little keycode thing since some of the stuff is sensitive, and you're supposed to lock it when nobody's there. I tried entering my code in any way I could think of, with the star, the pound sign, and all, but no dice. I eventually had to message in our Discord chatroom, and one member private IM'd me her code. And, what do you know? It worked perfectly! So I hope my code works next time. I'm just glad nobody needed me to get something from inside the desk before I figured it out!

Then I went to the library and did some homework---and got distracted. I'm awfully tired today, even though I slept in! But I got some work done, at least, and so I don't feel entirely unsatisfied with myself---I just have to write another entry and a half in this fictional journal project thingy before class Monday morning.

And then I got to go back to my room and curl up with a good book again! This one was about Charlotte Bronte---one of my favourite authors. That one, I really lost track of time with.

I'm supposed to call Blue and Green any minute now (we were supposed to call at 7, but they're both occupied) and then have a (very) late dinner with another friend afterward. I also want to get some crocheting in before bed! It's a perfect day to crochet, and since I'm making a hat it's fitting for the cooling weather! So TTFN whilst I go... do something until I call my friends? TTFN!!

My first week of classes is officially over! It's only been one week, but for some reason the past few weeks have just been jam-packed with everything happening all at once, so I have a lot to catch you up on!

My other classes that I didn't have Monday and so haven't mentioned are: English Lit, Foundational Principles of Education and Creative Writing!

English is good so far! The professor is a very peppy, quirky man, and seems really nice. Although he did apparently teach at my friend's high school and was universally hated... but maybe he's turned over a new leaf! So far, not much has happened, though--except our first quiz, over some vocab and such. We also did a bit of scansion with poetry, which I haven't done since Latin class in high school! So that was a nice throwback. :)

(Speaking of high school Latin, my new French professor is very fond of Gimkit, just like my high school Latin teacher! We've played it in two out of our three periods so far and I love that throwback as well!)

Foundations of Education is a little scarier honestly. I think part of that is because it's outside of my comfort zone, but also the teacher is a little intimidating. Maybe she's just neurotypical, though, I don't know. But so far we've not done very much at all. The only thing is that my textbook, which I ordered several weeks ago, is still on backorder and hasn't arrived---ughhh.

Creative Writing is pretty fun! Although it did cause a minor breakdown moment Wednesday when I realized I had an assignment due from the textbook... which I did not have. And so I had a breakdown and had to go get the library copy, and stay up till one doing homework.  But I eventually got it done on time, even though I got an extension. Creative Writing is also a Zoom class, and I'm always a couple minutes late purely because I have to run all the way from the opposite side of campus back to my dorm. It wasn't supposed to be one, which is why I got in this pickle, but the professor had some sort of emergency that's keeping him on the west coast with his family.

Besides that, the K-Pop Club has been going amazingly! Except there is a creepy guy that allegedly has a history of touching girls that's potentially trying to come to a meeting next week, and so I have an emergency meeting about that with the faculty advisor and risk management officer later today. (This creepy guy is also heavily involved in the language/linguistics departments and I just. can't. frigging. escape him!!)

Also, one of my suitemates moved out and dropped out without telling the rest of us?!? It happened yesterday morning. My roommate and my other suitemate had both gone to class, and this suitemate asked us in our group text thread if she could bring her brother over to "help her with something". We all said yes, and I was in my room working on homework at around 8:30 or 9 when she asked this. I even came out once to get a drink while she was moving out and she said nothing! So when I left my room to go to class at around 10:15, every trace of her was gone. I asked what the deal was and she said she had dropped out and left! I wish her all the best, but honestly I think it's a little concerning. If she had asked me I would've encouraged her to at least stick out two weeks--but alas, she didn't ask me. I still wish her well in her future!

I've also seen some of my friends for the first time this year! It's really nice to see them all again. :)

That's about all that's happened this week! Now, I have to go do some reading for my Creative Writing Class. Toodles!

Today's my first day back in class! I'm really glad to see all of my old friends again. Like I mentioned in my last post, it's been pretty awkward since most of my hall this year, including my roommates, are first-years and also besties already, and I feel out of place. So I've loved getting to see everyone. :D I had lunch with one group of friends yesterday and then we hung out for a while, and I had a couple more over last night, and we played Exploding Kittens and Cards Against Humanity with my suitemates! (AKA the girls in the other bedroom--also including in the general category of "my roomates") We did end up going to bed pretty late, but it was really fun.

This morning I had two classes out of five--the other three are Tuesday-Thursday. This morning I started off with Linguistics for the English Language Classroom, which helps both English literature/language teachers and English as a second language teachers learn how to teach English language skills! I know a good few people in that class, and the professor is really cool. (Although there is this one creepy guy that I CAN'T SEEM TO ESCAPE that's in there as well.) It's going to go well, I think, despite the fact that I spilled tea all over my desk and had to run to the bathroom to get towels to clean it up before class even started. And coincidentally, one of my classmates from that class is also in my next class, Pre-Revolutionary France! In which there are only three students, including myself. We have a new professor, as the old one retired, and she's really nice so far. We played GimKit, an old favourite review game from high school, and got to know each other!

I had lunch with an old friend/acquaintance from last year. I thought I was going to have lunch with Forest, one of my closest friends from last year, but then he reminded me he has straight classes for four hours Monday-Wednesday-Friday, which he had told me and I had forgotten. But tonight I'm meeting up with my K-pop club members for dinner and a mini-exec meeting, which I'm so excited about!! I really love that club and all its members, so I'm really excited. ^-^ And I can't wait to give them their souvenirs from Korea!

Right now I'm doing my work-study job, which is working my dorm's hall desk. It's really cool! Although it's actually really hot at the moment, and the main building's AC is screwed up. It's a pretty boring job, but it helps me pay for college, so it's worth it.

That's about it from me for now. Expect more updates throughout the week! Toodles :D

Well, today was... a lot! I had my computer science final this afternoon, and before that I had to try and motivate myself to do some work. I had a chicken salad, a breadstick and some fries for lunch, which was really good! I think I did pretty well on my compsci final, and afterwards I sat near this guy I really like in the library! I was reading some of my favourite British literature in an attempt to capture his attention (he's an English major) but I think I failed. Oh well! A friend of mine who knows him said she'd introduce us but given it's finals week I don't know if she'll have time. Why is it that when I finally have a crush who I can trust would be a good boyfriend, and I've gotten to a place where I almost (keyword almost) have the courage to tell him something about it, it's finals week? I'm going to have to see if any of my friends can sus his Instagram account or something. Even though I don't like Instagram. And I haven't posted to my account in like a year, so it might be suspicious. But I digress!

I also had my linguistics final today, which was on-line, so I did it with a friend from my k-pop club (the professor lets us do tests with our friends--I feel like she doesn't care, but in a good way) and then we had dinner afterwards. It was really fun! I think I needed some social interaction today after holing up studying and taking exams for the past few days.

I'm really gonna miss my college friends this summer! I live in this small little town about two or three hours from the city where most of my friends from college live. Thankfully, I'm going to be able to meet up with Blue and Green though! And hopefully Pink (for blog newcomers--a longtime friend since childhood who's now going to college in Europe. Sadly he seems to have drifted away from most of us stateside, though) as well, and some other old friends. And hopefully I'll also finally get a car so I can drive to my friends' house and maybe even drive into the city to visit my college friends!

But yeah, I am exhausted. I also finished my French essay today but I haven't turned it in yet because honestly I really don't want any feedback. I don't want to think about that class anymore! I just want to be done.

I also have a statistics exam to study more for tomorrow, and my English final is halfway done. Hopefully I'll have it done by the weekend, because I'm going on holiday Monday! I'm going abroad to spend a week with family. I'll make posts here about it as the holiday happens, but for now I'll let it be because again, I'm exhausted. I need to go take a shower and get ready for bed. Good night, y'all!

Well, holy crap, y'all! I meant to post this weekend, but my weekend was too jam-packed!

Saturday morning, the two kids I teach English played each other in little league soccer (or whatever it's called. I may be a soccer teacher (does that exist?) but I'm not a soccer mom yet. In any case, I think I might sign my kids up for dance instead.) and since one of the members of my English teaching group is coach for one of their teams, a lot of us went out to support them! It was also a sort of team-building activity, but, y'know, an actually fun one--not a ropes course or crap like that. I HATE ROPES COURSES! Which is why I've always come up with excuses not to go on them. Ha ha ha! Anyways, one of the kids comes from Latin America, and his family had a bunch of snacks from their home country that they shared with us, which was really sweet of them! I don't remember the name, but it was some sort of special bread with chicken, mayo and some various veggies. They were so good! I even got to take one home for dinner that night.

And then as soon as I got home, two of my roommates and I went and had pizza and ice cream! It was really fun, even though I'm always at odds with one of them. I mean, with my three current roommates, I have one I love, that one I have a love-hate relationship with, and the other one that I'm just always annoyed with--but enough of airing my dirty laundry on the Internet. It was a really nice time! And I got them both to like a k-pop song--MAGO by GFRIEND, to be exact.

Then that night, a friend and I went to Wal-Mart! We're in the K-Pop Club together at our college, and we were buying some presents for two of our members, since we have one graduating and one transferring.

The next day, another friend and I went to this little Chinese restaurant in town (who had maybe the best beef and broccoli and vegetable lo mein I've ever had!!) and then went to Wal-Mart again! This time we got a prize for the activity we had planned for our meeting tonight (a Kahoot where we guessed who added what song to our group Spotify playlist) and I got some DVDs, and I got a cookie cake (because I lurrrve cookie cakes) for our meeting tonight. And then I called Blue and Green (for any newcomers to my blog, Blue is my bestie for the restie that I've known since middle school, and Green is our other best friend from high school) until pretty late.

And then there was today! We had our last k-pop club meeting of the semester tonight, and it was a little emotional. Both our leaving members really liked their gifts, which was really heartwarming! I'm gonna miss them all so much but I'm so glad I've gotten to know them. :)

(There was some more here but my browser crashed and I lost it! Grr D:< )

What can I do but dread the next two weeks? The finals countdown has begun! I have one more mini-assignment each in compuer science, linguistics and statistics, but beside that everything's in full finals swing. I already have my French final essay assignment, and I'm getting my English one tomorrow. I suppose I should start studying for statistics as well today, and computer science later on. But I'm quite tired and wish I didn't have to! But I just have to remind myself that I only have a week and a half left till I can blow this popsicle stand! I just have to power through and probably drink a lot of tea to do so.

The past few days have actually been quite good, however! The calm before the storm, I guess. Friday afternoon, I had my stats test, and I actually think I did well! And then I sat down underneath a tree and read for a while before dinner, which was absolutely idyllic! I felt like a character in a novel, almost. I hope I can catch some more moments of peace like that! I kind of did the next day, too, actually, because I went to my friend's birthday picnic! It was in this cute local park and all the food was really good. It was super fun! Although I did sunburn my nose. :(

Yesterday was pretty run-of-the-mill. I had this really cute outfit on that my pastor's wife complimented at church! She and her husband are both so sweet. I've seen their son, too--he goes to college in a different city--and I thought he was really handsome. :) Sadly, he's graduating anyways, but oh well. Anyways, my English teaching also went well yesterday--it was one of my students' birthdays and so we had a little party for him, and he gave me a few of his duplicate Pokemon cards! The girl who taught the kids before me was right when she said eventually they kind of feel like "your" kids. :)

And that brings me to today. I have to do linguistics homework and start working on my French paper--ugh! I have no clue what I'm going to write about. And there's something else I'm forgetting. And classes, and a club meeting tonight, which is the bright spot in my day, even though it's just making me even busier. But oh well. Now I should probably start paying attention to my French class again. Toodles!
